Steven Wesley joins Coast VBC for his first year. He has had success as a player and a coach at every level of the game, including high school, collegiate, club and professionally. Steven was born in Monterey, CA. He grew up in a family of athletes where he quickly learned to appreciate sports and their effect on people. He passed up a promising career in track to pursue volleyball full time. After playing four years in high school, he began getting looks by colleges, namely UC San Diego and Hawaii Pacific University.

He decided to attend UC San Diego, where he studied pre-med  & music. While there he competed on the club and varsity squads. Upon completion of undergrad he left for the Bay Area, where he attended the University of California, Berkeley. He obtained his Doctorate in Sports Medicine through a fellowship program with UC Davis.. He competed with the CAL Men’s Division 1 club team for two years to finish out his eligibility.

He started his coaching career at age 21 and coached ages 12-18 and at the community college level. . Last season, Steven as the Head Coach of Encore 16 Navy, coached his team to a 6th place finish in the region, and a bronze medal at the 2016 Girls Junior National Championships in Indianapolis. Alongside club volleyball, he ran the volleyball program at Lowell High School in San Francisco for 10 years and earned six girl’s and boy’s championships. He looks forward to bringing his extensive playing and coaching experience to help push our athletes to the next level.
