COAST Volleyball Club welcomes Majo Orellana as the new Director of Sand Volleyball.

In addition to playing professionally on the beach, Majo has extensive experience directing sand programs both internationally and domestically. Before moving to the U.S., Majo played on the national indoor and sand teams of her home country, Guatemala. Majo developed Central America’s first beach club which placed numerous athletes in U.S. colleges. Majo moved to San Diego in 2013 from Guatemala to work with the San Diego Beach Volleyball Club. In 2016 she helped develop the first College Prep Program for SD Beach.  Over her years at SD Beach as both a coach and 2 years as program Director she, along with staff at SDBeach, helped over 25 athletes reach Division I beach volleyball programs. From March 2015 to December 2016, Majo served as the Director for SD Beach, and lead the club to be the overall Club Champions at the 2016 BVCA, AAU Power League Club Champions, and several individual top 5 finishes in Junior Olympics, Junior Nationals, and CBVA Tour Stop.

Having learned from the top coaches in the U.S. and internationally, Majo draws from a broad spectrum of different systems and techniques to maximize athletic potential. Majo is also an entrepreneur and founder of MGT Greatness Training, an athletic and college prep platform that supports and educates players and parents on college recruitment, physical preparation, and professional mindset.

Majo earned a Bachelor degree from the Universidad Landivar in Guatemala in 2006. Majo continues to compete professionally on the AVP tour and now resides in Encinitas where she loves to eat healthy, learn, read, be outdoors, and play beach volleyball on the weekends that she is not coaching.
