I grew up in Jamestown, Virginia with my main sport being soccer. I began playing when I was 5 years old thru college. I even had a short 2 year span being a pro player. I started playing volleyball in 1983 and picked up the sport very quickly. I played for the Williamsburg Volleyball Club starting in 1985 and traveled to Nationals every year until moving to San Diego in 1991. I also started playing beach volleyball in 1985 and played on the EVA Tour. My volleyball coaching career started in 1987 where I started the girls indoor program at Walsingham Academy in Williamsburg, Virginia and was there until 1990. In 1991 I moved to San Diego and started West Coast Beach Volleyball with my wife Shari, running tournaments until 2010. I coached at Sunwest Volleyball Club from 1994 to 1996 and then helped out with my daughter’s indoor teams from 2003 – 2012. I have been coaching at Coast Volleyball Club since 2013. I also have been coaching in the Canyon Crest Academy volleyball program since 2013. I continue to be excited to share my passion for the sport of volleyball and hope to pass it on to that new group of young women every year.
