Melissa was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. She competed as a 6- rotation outside hitter in high school and club, but in college Melissa was the starting libero for the University of Kansas. She broke the school record for Career Digs during her senior season and was named Big 12 defensive player of the week. Melissa coached at camps for Kansas and Wichita State University throughout her four years. After college, Melissa spent two years teaching English in Spain and then moved to Denver, Colorado to work as a medical assistant and coach volleyball for Thornton High School, The Edge VBC and JeffCo VBC at the 15s and 16s levels. Melissa moved to San Diego in September of 2015 and she is currently pursuing her degree of Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University, right down the road from COAST. She is loving the San Diego lifestyle and excited to be coaching for COAST!
