Sam Lee has been at Coast for 7 years. His coaching experience includes Francis Parker, Canyon Crest, and Our Lady of Peace, where he led his team to consecutive undefeated seasons. He also has 2 seasons as the assistant coach with the Mesa men’s volleyball program. At Coast, he has trained players at all levels and age groups. As a basketball and volleyball player at Leland HS in San Jose, Sam earned league MVP honors while leading the Chargers to consecutive league championships. Lee also played for Apex VBC.
A 2009 graduate of UC San Diego with a Bachelor’s in Management Science, Sam and a business partner started Kalbiq, a Korean fusion taco truck, which was acquired a few years later.
Sam is currently a Financial Analyst for one of the top commercial real estate companies in San Diego, and is the owner of The Chiavari Guys, an event rentals company. Although work takes up the majority of his time, he has realized he will always love teaching young volleyball players the necessary skills to compete and be successful.
“I coach volleyball because the sport has changed my life. I believe it is a culture with great opportunities, great challenges, and most importantly, great people. The game has become a passion of mine because it teaches that success lies in hard work, determination, and a willingness to learn.”
