Justin Conde has been a coach at COAST for almost a decade of his 15 year coaching career. His analytical nature coupled with an innate drive for competency has shown him different parts of the world through a variety of roles; as a problem solver, critical thinker, technical trainer, coach, and even professional musician. Inherently driven to teach others at a young age: Justin’s core coaching philosophy is centered on the process of developing character skills in a sports based learning environment. He recognizes that each person prefers different learning styles and communicates differently, which has led him down a path of creating innovative training platforms that combine today’s technology with hand-picked skills and philosophies from around the world.
At COAST, Justin has been an integral part of some of the most decorated teams: Not only earning bids and medaling at 15+ qualifiers; but finishing at the top of the age division in the region, winning Open Qualifiers, placing 3rd in the Open Division of Junior National Championships in the 17s age group, and winning an Open National Championship in the 16s age group. While most of the athletes from his teams have gone on to play College Volleyball at the Division 1 level, all of them have left a lasting impression on his personal growth.
Justin grew up in Cypress, CA and came to San Diego to attend SDSU. After graduating in 2006 with a B.A. in Social Science, he continued coaching and found other ways to stay in school, well to play volleyball via staying in school. He played for both Mesa College and City College. At Mesa, he led the team in Kills and Aces, carried a 4.0 GPA, and was one of the top 10 Outside Hitters in the State. At City, he returned to his setting roots, started every match and led the team in Assists and Aces. When not in the gym, Justin a true polymath; teaches, tinkers, creates, builds, researches, repairs, writes, cooks and even gardens a bit. Most importantly, he enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, former Coast Coach Hailey Conde née Marvin, and their two fur babies, Kea and Moa.
