Mas had an approximately 10 year Commercial Real Estate Banking Career, primarily with the Bank of America, before becoming a full time collegiate volleyball coach.

He started his coaching career at the University of the Pacific in 1990 and spent 12 seasons with the Tiger program, 4 as a Volunteer Assistant Coach and 8 as a full-time Assistant Coach. The overall team record during those 12 seasons at Pacific was 309-82 with NCAA Final Four appearances in 1990 and 1999. Pacific won 3 Big West titles and advanced to the NCAA Division I Tournament every season.

During the 2004 season, Mas was an Assistant Coach at the University of Oregon competing in the Pac-10 Conference. He served as the Video Coordinator at Stanford in 2007. The team had a 32-3 season record, won the Pac-10 Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division I Championship Match. Mas also served as the Video Coordinator and Volunteer Assistant Coach at Stanford University during the 2009 season. The team had a 23-8 season record, won the Pac-10 Conference Championship and advanced to the round of 16 in the NCAA Division I Tournament. In the two seasons at Stanford, the Cardinal went a combined 55-11, including a 30-6 record in the Pac-10 Conference.

He was as an Assistant Coach at UC San Diego for 3 seasons from 2010 through 2012. The overall team record during his 3 seasons as an Assistant Coach was 61-26 and the team earned NCAA Div. II Tournament appearances each season

Mas is a self-admitted volleyball wonk observing and analyzing the skill techniques and systems of international volleyball players and teams and writing articles about them as a contributor to “The Art of Coaching Volleyball” website.
