Ozhan Bahrambeygui comes to Coast Volleyball Club
 

In 2006 the Union-Tribune wrote "Ozhan is the key architect of junior volleyball in the San Diego County."  

As a San Diego native, Ozhan has trained ten Union-Tribune and North County Times "San Diego Player(s) of the Year", twenty one Fab 50 volleyball athletes (now termed "Senior Aces"), seven high school All-Americans, fifteen Pac-10 players and three collegiate All-Americans, and two NCAA Division 1 National Champions. Among these athletes, three girls made the 2008 Olympic Training Team roster. 

 

Several of Ozhan's players have enjoyed recent success in the college and international scene.  Juliann Faucette was also named the NCAA 2008 Division I Freshmen of the Year.  ShaʼDare McNeal a current high school player served on the USA Junior National Team that won the gold medal at  NORCECAs this past summer and will playing in the Junior World Championships in Mexico in 2009.  Additionally Ozhan coached the 2008 NCAA Womenʼs Basketball Player of the Year, Candice Wiggins in volleyball from 2001 to 2004. Most recently Carli Lloyd was named NCAA Division I Player of Week (10/20/08) after she led Cal Berkeley to a .300 hitting percentage, in a four game victory over then ranked #3 Stanford.

 

In all, Ozhan has helped place over 120 athletes in four-year volleyball programs, forty of which have played at top twenty five Division I programs and another thirty-one athletes competed for Ivy League schools.

 

Ozhan comes to Coast with over eighteen years of experience in coaching collegiate and club volleyball. On the college level Ozhan served as an assistant coach in the Big West Conference at the University of California, Irvine. In 1996 Ozhan assisted for Itsu Matsanaga, (the former Japanese National Team Coach) while training the University of Wisconsin Badgers. Before that Ozhan coached at Mesa College for both their Men's and Women's Volleyball programs. During that stint these programs garnered three conference championships and two "Coach of the Year" honors. Ozhan also continues to work in collaboration with members of the U.S. national team coaching staff through their various junior and youth level programs.

As Epic's Head Coach and co-founder, Ozhan was in charge of all the substantive volleyball operations for the club. These responsibilities included the club's technical training, staffing, conflict resolution and college placement. In the clubʼs five years under his guidance, Ozhanʼs teams went on to win two Junior Olympic Medals in the 18 Open, eight athletes were named JO All-Americans, and another eight athletes served on various U.S. age group national teams. The club earned five more medals between the boys teams and other girls teams traveling to JOs.

Prior to Epic Ozhan's club experience included serving as Technical Director of Sunwest Volleyball Club from 1999-2003. In 1999 Sunwest's 18s program won the Volleyball Festival Championships and was the number 1 ranked 18s in some prep polls.
 

Ozhan has maintained a position on the SCVA board since 2006 and continues to be the Southern California regionʼs primary representative at USA Volleyballʼs bi-annual YJOV meetings in Colorado Springs. 


Ozhan received his bachelor's degree in psychology and biology at UCSD in 1996 and received his Juris Doctorate in 2001.
