Harry
Campbell
Harry
grew up playing volleyball on the beautiful beaches of Santa Monica,
with his father and younger brother Michael. He is a 2009 graduate
of UC San Diego with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering; he is
currently working as a stress engineer at Goodrich Aerostructures.
Harry started playing indoor volleyball in the 8th grade and has
been coaching for the past 5 years. In addition to coaching, Harry
played 3 years for the UCSD Men's Volleyball team, under Kevin Ring
and former US Men's National Team Assistant Ron Larsen. The
highlight of his college career was coming in off the bench at UCLA
and solo blocking Steve Klosterman.
This is Harry's second year at Coast, and he has also coached at
Canyon Crest Academy and done volleyball camps at Pepperdine
University and with Gold Medal Squared the past 5 summers. Harry has
been fortunate enough to learn from some of the greatest minds in
volleyball. At Santa Monica High
School, Harry played for former Olympian Lianne Sato and was named
team captain and MVP twice. On the club scene, he played for SCVC in
Redondo Beach, and was coached there by current head coaches of the
USC men's and women's teams: Bill Ferguson and Mick Haley. Harry
trained with the USA
High Performance team in 2002, won a bronze medal at the Phoenix
Junior Olympics in 2003 and was named to the Volleyball Magazine "FAB
50" High School Senior List in 2004.
When Harry is not doing anything volleyball related, he likes to
body surf, shop for tank tops, learn Chinese, and read by the beach.
If Harry could visit anywhere on the Earth, it would be the Great
Barrier Reef.
