Head Coach Tina Kinkead

Tina Kinkead grew up in Southern California. She attended Gilbert High School in Arizona. She was named Arizona’s “Athlete of the Year” and received a full ride scholarship to play Division 1 volleyball at Santa Clara University. At Santa Clara her team won the West Coast Conference and played in the NCAA Tournament. She continues competitive volleyball by playing beach. She has earned her AAA rating on the beach.
Tina received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Santa Clara University. Tina continued her schooling at San Diego State University where she earned her Master of Arts Degree in Sports Psychology. At SDSU, she authored her master’s thesis on “how coaching styles affect the self-perceptions of high school athletes”. She also served as the sport psychology consultant for the SDSU Men’s Volleyball team. She went on to National University where she received her teaching credential in Health and Physical Education.
Tina was Santa Clara Men’s Head Volleyball Coach and has also worked as the Assistant Women’s Coach at Creighton University and Point Loma Nazarene University. For 18 years, Tina has coached at various clubs in Southern California. She is currently in her 7th year at Coast. Tina has also coached high school volleyball at Cathedral Catholic (USDHS),Vista High School, and La Jolla High School. At the high school level her Varsity teams have made it to the CIF SD section Semi-Finals five out of the six years she coached High School.
Tina met her husband, Cary, at Santa Clara University. Cary is an attorney in Carmel Valley. They have 3 children: Ames (son) 7, Jordan (daughter) 6, and Hayes (son) 3.
