Head Coach Luis Cuatok

Many regard Luis Cuatok as the hardest working coach in San Diego County.
A computer engineer by trade, Luis has used his expertise with video technology
to produce state-of-the-art recruiting videos that serve as a resource to many
club players in their college placement efforts. During his years as first
assistant at UCSD he operated and maintained the Dig Vid system, a video-editing
tool and volleyball stat program that collects valuable performance information.
Luis coached at Sunwest Volleyball club and Epic before making the move to Coast
in 2008. He has coached top teams at all levels. In 2000, as varsity coach, he
took University City High School to its first San Diego Section Division II
Championship and was a runner-up in 2001.
At UCSD,
he helped the Triton's to a Division Title in 2003 and the team was ranked as
high as 2nd in the nation.
In 2006 he led Westview to its first San Diego Section Division II title after
making back to back appearances in the finals. Again in 2007 Westview won its
second San Diego Section Division II title and Luis was honored 2007-2008 San
Diego County Coach of the year.
Last
year Luis led his 14-1 team to a silver medal in the National Division and his
15-1 team to a 7th place finish at the open division at the Junior Olympic in
Atlanta. The year before he took his 17-1 team to the finals of the two
toughest 17 Open JO qualifiers in the Nation - Southern California and Northern
Lights qualifiers. In 2009 he took his 17-1 team to a 5th place finish in the
open division at JOs in Texas and his 13s took Silver in the American division.
The San Dieguito alum received his bachelor's degree in Cognitive Psychology and
minored in Math and Visual Arts at UCSD.
Luis is one of the master
technicians of Coast Volleyball Club. When it comes to technique, everyone seeks
his counsel, coaches and players alike. Luis lives in Scripps Ranch with his
wife Heather and their son Roy.
