Head Coach Laura Gustin
Laura grew up in Southern California
and began playing volleyball when she was 8 years old. In high school,
she helped her team win three CIF championships and was voted CIF MVP
her senior year. She competed with Mavericks Volleyball Club for four
years, including her 16’s year where they won the Junior Olympics Open
Division. Her senior year she played with Impact Volleyball Club.
Her career continued at the collegiate level at the University of Iowa.
Due to injury she was forced to take medical retirement her sophomore
year. She continued at Iowa to receive her BS in Leisure Studies with an
emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation and Minor in Psychology. Laura moved
to San Diego two years ago and works as an administrative assistant for
Comfort Keepers while she pursues her MA in Sport Management at the
University of San Francisco.
Previous coaching experience includes several years of teaching private
lessons for junior high and high school students. Laura served as an
assistant coach for the Iowa Men’s Club Volleyball team, and is
currently the Volunteer Assistant at Point Loma Nazarene University.
This is Laura’s first year at COAST and she is excited to see her team
increase their skills and compete!
