in the 70s. Up until 1999, he was the third youngest player to achieve the AAA
beach volleyball ranking (behind Karch Kiraly and Mike Dodd).
Kurt played for UCLA, winning National Championships in 1974 and 1975. He
transferred to San Diego State and was on a volleyball scholarship there in 1977
and 1978. He has a B.A. in Physical Education from SDSU.
While getting a Masters in Education degree in Career Guidance and Counseling at
Montana Sate - Northern, Kurt began his coaching career as the head coach for
the women's volleyball team.
In 1984, Kurt moved to San Diego and became the Assistant Women's Coach at U.S.
International University (now Alliant University), taking over as head coach in
1987 for two years. He also served as an assistant women's coach at UCSD in 1991
and 1992.
Kurt served as the men's volleyball coach at Mesa College for a decade, as well
as women's coach for six years.

coaching career.
Kurt's club volleyball coaching experience dates back to 1986, when he started
with San Diego Volleyball Club. He has coached elite boys and girls teams since
then, with recent years being as a girls 13-2 coach.
Kurt's special gift is to create a training environment in which hard working
players thrive. He is an outstanding addition to the coaching staff.
