Head Coach Heidi Trump
Heidi Trump comes to Coast from Tucson, Arizona, where she got her
start as both a volleyball player and coach. After competing for
four years on the varsity squad at Rincon-University High School and
on the top travel teams with Club Cactus Juniors, Heidi received a
scholarship to Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina; there
she continued to play volleyball at the Division 1 level for four
years. In May 2003, Heidi graduated Summa Cum Laude with a dual
degree in Biology and Spanish and earned the William Hoole Award
given to the senior intercollegiate athlete with the highest
cumulative GPA.
Upon returning to Tucson after college, Heidi began coaching the freshmen squad at Cholla High School and eventually joined Club Cactus Juniors for the spring club season. She coached with Club Cactus and Cholla until moving to North Carolina in 2006. After a year in North Carolina where she continued to coach with New Bern VBC, Heidi returned to Tucson with her husband. She began coaching once again with Club Cactus and took a position as the Head Volleyball Coach at Sunnyside High School. A year later, Club Cactus merged with VBC Dinamo; Heidi was put in charge of the 15-Elite team in 2009 and the 16-Elite team in 2010. Heidi admits that what keeps her coming back to the gym as a coach is seeing the players grow throughout a season, not only as volleyball players but also as individuals and a team. She appreciates the impact her coaches had on her development as a person through the game of volleyball and strives to produce the same positive effect on her players.
Heidi moved to San Diego in January 2011 when her husband Mark took orders to MCAS Miramar. They have two dogs that keep them busy and enjoy camping and exploring mountain trails when given a free weekend. Heidi looks forward to joining the Coast family this season.
