Head Coach Brett Alderman
Brett
Alderman comes to Coast and Shorebreak by way of the Australian
national team. Brett was the starting setter for his country
spanning a 17 year national team career, in over 350 junior and
senior matches. A run which includes highlights such as the 2004
Athens Olympics, 2002 & 2006 World Championships, 2007 World Cup and
2001, 2003 & 2007 Asian Championships. During his playing career,
Brett also competed professionally in Europe, living in such places
as France, Italy, Germany and Montenegro.
On the junior level Brett has coached with the COAST 18-1 girls, and
head coached the Girls Fall Programs for the last two years. Brett
also maintained coaching responsibilities with the Shorebreak 18-1
and 18-2 boys in the 2010-11 season. Last summer Brett was
contracted to Head Coach the Men's Australian pro team of Queensland
(a state the size of California), a squad which he led to the finals
of the Interstate Challenge Championships.
After receiving so much from playing volleyball Brett's passion for
the game has been refocused into helping the sport grow, both by
coaching new and upcoming athletes, as well as promoting the sport
through different avenues, domestic and abroad.
Brett is now a permanent resident of Del Mar California where he
lives with his beautiful wife Shannon, a teacher at Carlsbad high
school. Brett loves to surf, snowboard and skateboard and is
learning the beach game, slowly.
